This is a brand new product that we have been looking for now for some time. Affresh have developed this special kit to clean washing machines that already have a build up of residues inside your washing machines. Unlike bleach based products which will typically mask the residue's effects, Affresh actually removes the residues using surfactant chemistry cutting down on bad smells or unpleasant odours from washing machines.

Affresh washing machine cleaning tablets were first introduced in September 2007 and added to UK Whitegoods early the next year. Now, we introduce the next generation of the washer cleaner -- the Affresh washer cleaning kit. The kit includes Power Puck(TM) tablets and Grit Grabber(TM) cloths to more effectively remove and prevent odor-causing residue than using bleach alone. The Power Puck tablets use oxygenated bubbling action to penetrate and remove residue that can accumulate where it is hard to reach -- behind the washer drum. The specially formulated Grit Grabber cloths give added power to clean where they can reach by breaking up residue around the rubber door seal and detergent dispenser and locking it into the cloth.

The Power Puck tablets are designed to clean the parts you can't reach and the Grit Grabber cloth is designed to clean the areas that you can reach, specifically, the door seal.

This pack is designed for people that already have a problem with a smell from their washing machine so that you can use the full pack of Affresh power pucks to clean the machine intensively before maintaining with the kit.

The new European version of Affresh is called Power Fresh and it can be supplied as either Affresh or Power Fresh but the only difference is the branding and packet, the contents are exactly the same.

Each pack contains six Grit Grabber cleaning cloths and three Power Puck tablets which is a three month supply of normal use. However, if your machine is really bad it will need all three tablets in one first cycle to get the bacteria build up down and then one cleaning cycle per month after that.

Also included is a plastic case to keep your Affresh in neatly, like a first aid kit for washing machines.

How To Use Your Affresh Kit

Use the Power Puck tablets to clean what you can't reach:

1. Remove any clothing from the washing machine drum.

2. Add 1 Power Puck tablet to the washer tub and run the washing machine on either a 60˚C or 90˚C wash cycle.

Use the Grit Grabber cloth to clean what you can reach:

3.When the cycle is complete, gently pull back the rubber door seal and clean the entire surface with the rough side of the Grit Grabber™ cloth.

That's it - 3 easy steps once a month for a cleaner, fresher smelling washing machine!

Please note that, if your washing machine is already very smelly you may need to use a full pack of three Power Pucks on the first pass and possibly repeat the process to clear all the dirt from inside the machine.

Constant low temperature washing, the increasing use of liquid detergents (which do not contain any bleach) and the increase of washing machines with plastic outer drums that have recesses in them where bacteria can take hold and grow have all contributed to the problem of mould build up and strong odours from washing machines. However there are some simple quick tips that we would strongly advise that you follow to take care of your washing machine or washer dryer.

- Always run a maintenance wash using bleach containing detergent (powder, preferably biological powder) or even better using Affresh once a month

- Leave the washing machine door slightly ajar when not is use to allow the washing machine door seal and drum to dry as much as possible

- Remove and clean the soap dispenser on the washing machine at least once a month and ensure that you also clean the soap box that the soap dispenser goes into.

- If your washing machine has a removable filter check it regularly for build ups of ooze, fluff and other things that shouldn't be there

Following these simple tips can save you so much hassle and they're totally free, all you have to do is remember them to keep your washing machine in tip top condition. While it might no stop other things going wrong, it they at least keep bad odours or smells at bay.
