More Information On Oven Door Glass
Oven door glass panels can be shattered either through accidental physical damage, impurities in the glass itself (which will almost always cause an oven glass to shatter whilst fairly new) or through another fault causing it to happen.
Common problems that will make an oven door glass shatter are temperature variations stressing the glass, such as resting hot pots or casserole dishes on inner oven glass panels or through the likes of damp towels hung on the oven door handle causing a temperature variation at one point. This sort of use will massively increase the chance of a door glass shattering.
Whilst dramatic and frightening sometimes when they go, as they often do so with a bang, there is little danger and practically no harm has ever come from this due to th oven glass being a form of safety glass.
It is however absolutely imperative that when replacing an oven door glass that you check the oven door seal, door hinges and door hinge runners to ensure that they are okay and that the oven door is closing properly. The oven door must close properly or there is a danger that you can get heat escaping and therefore temperature variation on the glass, again increasing the chance of it exploding, as some people report it when a door glass goes bang, or shattering.
For some glass panels you will require a special glue/sealant to re-attach them correctly. You must use the correct heat resistant glue for this WHICH YOU CAN BUY FROM THIS LINK. This special glue, specifically for the purpose, is also used to re-attach some oven door hinges and other items to oven doors. Please note that this will require, we recommend, at least 24 hours to fully set.
