Low cost compatible copy of popular "green spot" thermostat kit (pair) to fit a great many Hotpoint, Indesit, Ariston and Creda tumble dryer models. The original part can be found from this link
Generally when these thermostats fail you will get a "no heat" fault in your dryer and both have to be replaced at the same time. Please remember, the green spot thermostat is a "one shot" safety device and if your dryer overheats it will "trip" or go open circuit. This cannot be reset and a replacement set will need to be replaced again. If this happens after a short period of time there may be an underlying problem that will need to be resolved, simply replacing the kit again and again is NOT the answer. One shot devices obviously carry no guarantee for the reasons stated above.
Do beware of cheap copies of this and other Hotpoint, Creda thermostat kits the cheap ones are not of the same quality and have issues, we gave up selling them due to a high failure rate. This kit is the only pattern copy that we've found to have no issues and be of an acceptable standard.

There are several kinds of tumble dryer thermostat employed and each has a different function but, irrespective of function there are three basic types:
- Normal analogue type thermostat that opens or closes at a preset temperature
- One-shot or resettable safety devices
- Electronic sensors which detect temperature by reading resistance
Often when thermostats fail they will do so due to a lack of cool air or a sudden exposure to temperature that they were not designed to endure. You can find out more about the most common reasons that tumble dryer thermostats fail in this article.
Normal thermostats will simply open or close the contacts when the preset temperature is reached in the dryer. These are most commonly used to switch the live supply to the dryer heating element cutting the element in and out to maintain the set temperature.
One-shot safety thermostats are just what they say, they will trip once and not reset so therefore must be replaced to have normal operation of the dryer restored. These thermostats should not, under any circumstances, be by-passed or the dryer used without these being "good" as it can be extremely dangerous and pose a serious fire risk to do so.
Resettable safety thermostats will have a small button on them to press, this resets the thermostat if it is not faulty.
In more modern and more efficient dryers the use of sensors, commonly NTC thermistors, is becoming increasingly popular. These sensors read the temperature constantly using electronic control units and offer far more accurate temperature regulation meaning a more efficient dryer.
