Pair of genuine Hotpoint Spares carbon brushes to fit Hotpoint, Creda, General Electric and English Electric washing machines and washer dryers. These carbons fit any of the above brands with a GEC motor which was used from about 1980 until about 2004/5.
This version of the Hotpoint carbons is the higher quality genuine laminated ones, so that they last longer with the heat protected brush holders. Beware that many cheaper ones sold on Ebay and the likes are not the same quality.

In the picture below you can see the tab that HAS to be released in order for the carbon brush to spring out from the holder. It is recommended that this is done after you fit the carbons to save running the risk of snapping the new carbon brush whilst fitting it.
To release the carbon simply slot in a fine screwdriver and bend the tab upwards about 90 degrees and the brush will pop out.

That copper takes a beating from that abrasive action. It gets pitted and worn so when you replace the carbon brushes we do recommend that you also clean this with what we refer to in the trade as a "comm stick" which is a stick of abrasive material specifically designed to clean this part of the motor without any damage.
