Affresh Washing Machine Cleaner
Genuine Affresh, simply the best by far washing machine cleaner used get rid of odours and smells from your washing machine and we have it in stock for immediate dispatch
00Now the new updated version and packaging for 2016 onwards.
Affresh has been developed by microbiology scientists at Whirlpool to combat the build up of residues inside todays high efficiency front loading washing machines. However, unlike bleach based products which will typically mask the residue's effects, Affresh actually removes the residues using surfactant chemistry cutting down on bad smells or unpleasant odours from washing machines.
In short, it's a revelation and we had to get it from the USA originally but it is worth it as smelly washing machine are a real problem these days, you can read more on this on the main UK Whitegoods website in this article about smelly washing machines (link opens in new window or tab).
Affresh cleaner is a formulated, slow-dissolve, foaming tablet that gets under residue, breaks it up, and washes it away leaving the washer smelling fresh and clean. No other washing machine cleaner that we have seen does this in the same way or is as effective as Affresh is.
The new European version of Affresh is called Power Fresh and it can be supplied as either Affresh or Power Fresh but the only difference is the branding and packet, the contents are exactly the same.
To use simply place one tablet in the drum (without clothes) and run a Normal Cycle (hot option) or Clean Washer Cycle.
Affresh™ is environmentally friendly, safe on septic tanks, and safe for all washer components.
|Affresh™ Power Puck™ Tablets
Activated by water in the washer tub, Power Puck™ tablets produce oxygenated cleaning action. The wash cycle circulates the bubbles through areas you can't reach like the tub, hoses and pumps The oxygenated bubbles penetrate, dissolve, remove or reduce the residue and send it flowing down the drain
Why do we recommend using Affresh to clean your washing machine?
Simple, it is fast, easy and it works.
It is by far and away the single most effective solution we've found and, we've seen a lot of these cleaners.
We normally recommend that people get at least two packs depending on how bad you think the problem might be as that seems to suit most people's needs by the time that the smell is bad enough that it's noticed.
Each pack contains three tablets which is a three month supply of what the manufacturer says is normal use though most people need to use one full pack initially to get the smell to start dissipating after this though when the machine when is cleaned a bit is usually okay.
If your machine isn't too bad running through two or even three cleaning cycles with one pack may well do the job.
Sadly however there's no way to know how bad your washing machine really is as the parts that have a build up you cannot see or access. So judging how much you will need and how many times you will need to run a cleaning cycle can be hard to judge.
If your washing machine is smelling bad to start with and, most are by the time people notice the smell then it will probably need all three tablets in one first cycle to get the bacteria build up down and then one cleaning cycle per month after that.
If it's really bad then it may take two runs with all three tablets just to start to get the smell back under control. In a few cases, where the build up is severe inside your machine it may even require more as while each pass will remove a layer of the gunk inside the drum it can take a while to completely clear regardless of what cleaning method you choose, we just find Affresh to be considerably more effective than any other alternative.
Since we are being so candid with the advice we also have to tell you that, in bad cases that the smell can get worse before it gets better. The reason for this is that Affresh will "peel off" the layers of gunk and slide on the tank of the washing machine and where the build up is bad this means that it exposes the lower layer/s as it cleans the machine through. Until you get that build up down or completely removed you can still get a smell from the washing machine, the only cure is to run the process again until it clears.
We have not had a case that hasn't cleared but some really severe instances have taken several runs to get it back under control.
After you get it back under control, regulate maintenance washes or using Affresh once every month or two should keep it under control.
More Information On Dirty Washing Machines
Constant low temperature washing, the increasing use of liquid detergents (which do not contain any bleach) and the increase of washing machines with plastic outer drums that have recesses in them where bacteria can take hold and grow have all contributed to the problem of mould build up and strong odours from washing machines. There are however several things that you can do to prevent this and there are links below to more in depth help and advice on keeping your washing machine smell free.
However there are some simple quick tips that we would strongly advise that you follow to take care of your washing machine or washer dryer.
- Always run a maintenance wash using bleach containing detergent (powder, preferably biological powder) or even better using Affresh once a month
- Leave the washing machine door slightly ajar when not is use to allow the washing machine door seal and drum to dry as much as possible
- Remove and clean the soap dispenser on the washing machine at least once a month and ensure that you also clean the soap box that the soap dispenser goes into.
- If your washing machine has a removable filter check it regularly for build ups of ooze, fluff and other things that shouldn't be there
Following these simple tips can save you so much hassle and they're totally free, all you have to do is remember them to keep your washing machine in tip-top condition. While it might no stop other things going wrong, it they at least keep bad odours or smells at bay.
Of course, should you still have a problem or question you are more than welcome to use our help and advice forums or more and there are also several articles below that may well help shed some more light on the issue.

Washing Machine Spare Parts
When you are looking for a spare part for your washing machine the first thing you should do is track down the proper model number for your washing machine or washer dryer. Our advice is not to trust the user guide or manual as all too often these will be generic and cover a range of machines and not just the particular model that you own.
You will normally find the rating plate where you can get all the relevant information around the door area, either on the door farm or beside the porthole opening. Or, it can be on the back of the filter flap and sometimes on the back of the machine itself although, they are usually made to be easily accessible without having to pull your washing machine out.
With this you can then search for the model number and find any parts that we have tagged to fit that particular model, including both genuine spare parts as well as any low cost compatible spares that may be available.

Can’t Find The Spare Part You Need?
We tend to list parts that have been asked for or used by the engineers and not ones that have not, meaning that this spare part has been used or requested before.
There reasons why we operate this way, the first is that if it has been used once then it is likely that the spare part will be needed again and it limits the items tagged to each model to a manageable level making it easier to find the spare parts needed.
This saves people from seeing hundreds of irrelevant results and only shows washing machine parts that we know can fail and have been used, not ones that are almost never required.

Universal Low-Cost Spare Parts
Universal spare parts are generic and designed to fit as many different models as possible as well as normally offering a cheaper alternative to original spare parts. However, they will not satisfy all applications and they often will also require some DIY skill when replacing.
They are incredibly handy though, especially when you're in a spot with no other option and why that many (if not most) of these spares will be found on almost every appliance technician's van stock.
The reasons for this are fairly self-evident, they fit a huge number of products, often tens of thousands of models and they tend to be really cheap. But most can be modified or tinkered about with to replace a myriad of far more costly spare parts so, for field tech looking to make a bit extra even although they spend more time doing this, it's a no-brainer for them.
That's all fine if you have a bit of skill or are prepared to spend the time on working out how to utilise a universal spare part and you, of course, want to save money.
The reason we tell people as openly and honestly this is that we don't want people thinking that a universal part will be an exact like-for-like swap as often times it won't be. On many occasions it is but we like to let you know what you're getting into, unlike many retailers.
For help with fault finding, diagnostics, fault codes and other technical assistance please use our forums where you can get help and advice from field technicians totally free.

We are going to get any part/s your order to you as fast as we possibly can.
We use a variety of means to do that but we also give you, the customer, the choice of how fast you want the transit time to be as well as the features and convenience levels that suit you on delivery so, there are options. There is a lot of information here on how we do this and an explanation of the choice you have as well as the impact of each in speed and cost as we are very open and transparent.
Orders placed outwith our normal business hours will not be shipped until the next working day and subject to stock availability.
Please be aware that we show availability and that we do not display live stock levels online.
What we do is give an average here based on where parts are and typically take to ship as well as an average of transit times based on how people order parts so these can vary depending largely on the shipping method that we allow you to select depending on your own individual needs.
The estimated normal time that an item will take to reach you (excluding weekends and public holidays) is indicated on every listing at the top of the listing in orange with the truck next to it, an explanation of these is as follows:
1 to 6 Days: Normally a UK stock item and usually dispatched the same or next working day but some items may take a little longer depending on where the stock is.
1 to ** Days: Usually a UK/EU stocked item but may have a longer lead time, for clarification of the time please contact us before ordering and we will advise further if required.
* to ** Days: Variable lead times that are based on normal order supply times, often parts that do not have a “1 to“ at the start will ordinarily be factory or custom order items and we would ask that you please allow the time indicated for your order to arrive with you. Please note that these items are specially ordered upon request that is not normally stocked therefore cannot be ordinarily returned, this does not affect your statutory rights.
Again, please note that your chosen delivery method may affect the delivery time to both shorten and lengthen that delivery time and that these estimates apply to UK mainland orders only. The faster delivery method that you choose, the lower on that estimated delivery time you will likely receive the items ordered.
If you need clarification or a more accurate lead time please contact us for assistance on that and we will do our utmost to provide that as our estimated lead times are based on normal stock availability, average lead times, average shipping times and this can vary depending on shipping methods etc.
Our standard delivery charges are quoted online when you place an order on the checkout page and are determined by weight, size and method so can alter based on those parameters.
Large (oversized/overweight) items (panels, dishracks, cooktops, tubs, drums, etc.) may incur additional shipping fees, especially when off the mainland UK.
Our estimated delivery times do not apply to international or offshore orders, only to UK mainland addresses and that delivery times to more rural areas may vary depending on the service used.
Delivery times can vary at times of very high volumes, such as Christmas period and also due to bad weather etc and at such times deliveries, regardless of service used, may not happen as normal.
Please do understand that manufacturers can change specifications, pricing and delivery times without notice and we do try to take account of this as best we can but we cannot absolutely guarantee these things when outside of our control.
Order Transit Times
If the item you have ordered is in stock and the order is placed before 3.00pm Monday to Friday then we will endeavour to dispatch the order on the same day. Subsequent delivery times are usually between 1-3 working days dependant on the service you have chosen, the time your order is placed and stock availability.
If an item is required for a guaranteed next day delivery please contact us in advance to check that this is possible
Please note that the times given can be subject to availability, however, more than 98% of all orders are delivered on or faster than the estimated times.
Economy courier Service
