   Oven Heating Elements

Cooker and oven lower element failures are usually pretty easy to diagnose as, the oven will only partially heat or not heat up as it should do.

Often you will also find that the lower or base oven element will be found only in static ovens (i.e. not fan driven) on a multi-function oven. Most often these base elements work in conjunction with other heating elements in the appliance to provide an even spread of heat throughout the cooking cavity.

Beware of mains electricity when working with oven elements In general many lower base heating elements can be a bit tricky to change, some are just downright awkward! It is therefore advised only for those with some good DIY skills and understanding. In almost all cases the oven, if it is a built in model, will need to be removed from the housing and panels removed to change the lower element. This is often not a job for novices but with patience it can be done.

You will require, as always when working on electrical appliances such as ovens and cookers, to isolate the appliance from the mains power for safety. Whatever you do, do not work on a cooker or oven that is live as it is highly dangerous to do so.

Base elements can also, like many other spare parts, be the victim of cheap and poor quality quality parts which fail sooner if they work at all and also be poorly constructed making them harder to fit. That being said there are sometimes good quality compatible elements available if it is a common heating element or, it commonly fails.

How To Test An Oven Element

Here's a video we cobbled together that show you how to test an element but rather than, as we have here to demonstrate, taking the element out you can usually do this with the element still in the oven so long as you can get to the terminals. For most is still means dragging the oven or cooker out to get to those but, it saves you stripping the thing out needlessly.

Beko spare partsLike most these days Beko can also have multiple variants under the one model number making the need for the production number or serial number absolutely essential in some cases to identify the correct spare parts.

Beko also produce appliances for other brands so it is not unusual for spare parts like this one to be fitted to other models and even other makes. Beko also own and operate several other brands including Blomberg, Grundig and Flavel and many functional spare parts are common to all these brands however cosmetic items and plastics tend not to be.

More information on the Beko brand and other brands that Beko owns can be found on the manufacturer information page

  Beko Spare Parts

You will for sure need to have the model number at the very least to locate any Beko spare part with any degree of certainty that the replacement spare part will fit.

Increasingly however we are seeing machines that are product code or number specific that you may need for some parts on some models to be sure of getting the correct parts.

The rating plate on any Beko produced appliance can tell you a lot, such as when it was made as well as the full and correct model number and if required, the product code. You can get more information on where to find that and how to read the information from this article on our support site

It is also the case that a number of spare parts used on Beko products have been altered over time so, the up to date and current replacement may not look the same as the one in your machine which can make identification visually using images alone impossible.

  Beko Technical Support

Support for problems with Beko applainces in the forums is generally fairly good due to the volume of products in the field and the availability of spare part and technical information. If you are looking for fault diagnosis help the forums is the place to go for assistance.

Before you do that though, please read our quick guide on how to get the best responses in the forums here, the guys will help you if they can with most Beko problems.
